The mission of the Rx Savings Solutions Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee is to provide safe, quality and cost-effective drug information for RxSS members and clients.

Covering nearly 19 million members, the Rx Savings Solutions (RxSS) P&T Committee oversees more lives than all but a few of the largest health plans in the U.S., including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Our Purpose
The P&T Committee maintains the RxSS database of clinical suggestions to promote safety, efficacy and advance the company mission.
ENSURE compliance with clinical standards of care using appropriate drug compendia, national guidelines and emerging pharmacological data.
REVIEW new drugs, therapeutic classes, clinical indications, therapeutic advantages and safety information.
EVALUATE outcomes from member prescription change requests and analyze prescriber acceptance/denial rates
Our Criteria
In addition to peer-reviewed, evidence-based and fully referenced drug compendia, the P&T Committee curates savings suggestions based on one, final litmus test: Would we recommend this to our family?
Maximize safety and limit risk when evaluating the potential savings benefit of a suggested product compared with a current treatment.
Show only suggestions with equivalent efficacy or recommended alternatives.
Limit the risk of member confusion when mapping products with multiple alternatives while also aligning with reasonable standards of care.
What is more likely to increase a member’s adherence—cost or convenience? We show options that check the box for both to help members stay on track with prescribed treatments.
In general, we will suggest any existing clinically appropriate alternative, giving preference to more commonly utilized cost-effective options.
